This morning began with a very early Moon/Neptune conjunction in Pisces, which we likely felt last night trickling in. Moon in Pisces, especially conjunct Neptune in its own sign, is the essence of experiencing the womb in waking life, a watery etheric dreamlike essence that helps us better understand how to trust in the process of becoming. As she approaches Aries, we begin to feel the inevitability of separation from this, thus preparing ourselves to re-individuate and take the reins of our lives back into our own hands. Spending the day meditating on this process will be good for us.

With this Moon/Neptune conjunction in Pisces comes things that are beyond our control, and that includes news we don’t expect or want with retrograde Mercury in Scorpio semi-sextile Jupiter in Sagittarius digging up even more shadows from the past.

Late tomorrow evening and into Saturday, Sun in Scorpio sextiles Saturn in Capricorn which sextiles Neptune in Pisces (which also means Sun trines Neptune). We are caught in a battle between escapism and pragmatism, confused about the values of each. Likely opting for the former, we may get caught in a web of crossed boundaries, responsibilities left by the side of the road in a bag with all our prudent choices in it. There are lessons through this process, however. Just be mindful of your actions and the consequences that could result from those actions. By Sunday we can lick our wounds and hike back the seven miles to look for our bag of pragmatic prudence on the side of the road.

New Moon, Sunday, October 27, 2019

Tonight at 11:39pm EDT we have a New Moon at 4° Scorpio opposing Uranus at 4° Taurus. At the same time, Mars and Saturn are squaring each other in Libra and Capricorn respectively. This is an extremely powerful New Moon centered around embodying the sacred through awakening our sexual forces. Harnessing these forces is a sensitive dance, however. There is electrifying turmoil in the reaches of our emotional body seeking outward expression. We are facing the most powerful sexual archetypes in a myriad of placements and aspects, so relationship dynamics are most pressing on this New Moon. Our passions and perversions may swing wildly across boundaries into shadows we have repressed deep within our emotional bodies. Because of this, we need to ground ourselves and value some moments alone to recognize these feelings and desires, allow them to lose their affiliation with language, and harness them through heart-centered alignment of the elemental bodies. Our roots may be blocked or unleashed, and our minds may be stagnant or rampant, but whatever the case, open the channels and valleys to allow an uninhibited flow of these tsunamic forces through our physical, emotional, mental, and etheric bodies so they may come back into healthy alignment. We are about to upgrade our journey through life. How do you intend to do that?

Yielding on the New Moon in Libra

Posted on

The New Moon in Libra on Saturday (2:26pm EDT at 5°20′) presents us with an opportunity to witness and integrate the differences and polarities we face in everyday life, especially with others. Integrating these polarities involves more work than witnessing them, but the latter is the catalyst to the former. When we recognize them, we can begin to process and understand how they intertwine with our lives, and then yield to it all in order to manifest our intentions together.

The power of Sun and Moon together in Libra allows us to see all sides of situations and reconcile them in the name of spirit and unification. Libra is ruled by Venus, who is so beautifully transiting her own sign of Libra right now, as is Mercury, further enriching the potency of these unifying principles. It is a time when our capacity to do this is strongest. Look around yourself and notice things, people, or ideologies that you may not like. Though many of these may be very difficult to reconcile, the purpose of the practice of doing so is akin to the Tao, “When two great forces oppose each other, the victory will go to the one that knows how to yield.” Libra’s highest vibration is yielding to others. It is bringing into balance and harmony the opposing forces surrounding us and within us. In doing so, we see that all polarities are merely two sides of the same coin. And choosing one over the other only creates perpetual imbalance and the inability to awaken to the oneness we all embody.

How we relate to one another is rooted in Libra for this reason. It is about learning how to reconcile the differences between us all, not just our nearest and dearest. Once you see the differences between yourself and everything around you, find acceptance in your heart that those differences are important. They are teachers teaching us to open up and accept diversity. Ultimately, there is love is everyone’s heart, even the most despicable person you can think of. That love becomes clouded by ignorance and conditioning that many people cannot find their way through. It is a dense fog that persists in their hearts, suppressed by fear and insecurity. Cultivate compassion by understanding this.

Libra season is a beautiful time. Autumn in the North, Spring in the South. The great balancing of light and dark. Open up your heart and mind in order to witness, integrate, and yield. We are all working out so much in our lives. Be easy on yourself and those around you. Be at peace.

The Fog is Lifting

Posted on

Saturn. Great commanding deity of TIME, KARMA, WORK, AUTHORITY, STRUCTURE. Without Saturn we would get nothing accomplished, never feel guilty about anything, never reap what we sow, never mature, and nothing would stay together. With Saturn reigning over all of these things, thus the weight it can put upon our own shoulders, it is no surprise that its changes will affect our own.

As Saturn stations direct this week (yesterday, technically), the proverbial chains that have been holding us down, back, and in, are unlocked and beginning to come loose. The fog is lifting. We are beginning to feel that there truly is potential in the plans and visions we were coaxing into existence earlier this year but were stifled in our capacity to manifest. A very heavy weight is coming off our chests. The pieces that fell apart between April 29th and now can be picked up and put back together again, but this time we can build an even better future, as difficult as it may sound.

We of course have to remember that Saturn is still in its ruling sign of Capricorn, along with Pluto and Moon’s South Node, so our coming achievements will reflect the essence of this archetype. The essence of Capricorn is journeying from student to master, beginner to advanced, childish to mature, the sea to the mountaintop. It is utilizing the lessons learned through hard work, diligence, integrity, strife, karma, guilt, and the crossing of boundaries, to make something of our soul’s journey. We all fell somewhere these past five months, perhaps we fell and fell and fell. Maybe we did things we shouldn’t have done. Maybe we got lazy or stupid while soaking up so much fun in the summer Sun. But hopefully we all made it through and are here to read or write about it.

Take heed of the whispers Saturn gleaned upon you from time-to-time over the summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere). Ideas of how to improve your career, your practice, your study, your mentoring, your parenting, your time management. These are all areas we are going to begin feeling better about. The work is not finished by any means, but there is beginning to be light at the end of the dark confusing tunnel of setbacks and struggles we have been through. With right action and conscious process we can attain now what we could only imagine attaining before. We can now climb that mountain.

Much as we have to remember that Saturn (and Pluto and SN) are still in Capricorn, we also have to remember that all the inner planets, including Sun, are either in or approaching Libra. They will one-by-one come to square Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn between Sep 22 and Nov 5. This is not to be taken lightly, because the inner planets reflect our day-to-day experiences and relationships, especially the latter when they’re all in Libra. We will be forced to examine and build upon the pieces of our relationships that may have been shattered or struggled to evolve lately. Saturn and Pluto can bring tremendous limitations and loss into our lives. Loss of people, jobs, security, friends, health. But they knock us down that we might rise again mightier than before. The phoenix rising from the ashes, building a new future, a new relationship, a new career. Particularly as these inner planets transit Libra and square Saturn and Pluto, we will feel a strong pull to honor the significant people in our lives and how we emotionally manage those relationships. Remember that honoring those people can also mean letting them go. This is about aligning our integrity in the realm of relationships through whatever is necessary. How can we build upon the relationships we are already in in a more harmonious and balanced manner? What can we let go of willingly that will bring peace to the love we share with them? It will be an October of recognizing our passive-aggressive behaviors and perhaps being put in our place because of them. Be mindful of your actions, but especially be mindful of your REactions. Saturn is prone to taking things too far just to find out where the boundaries are. If you remain vigilant of your actions, you can find that boundary without crossing it. In other words, think before you speak.

Find your gift. Nurture that gift. While Moon’s south node is in Capricorn, its north node is in Cancer. North node is the beacon we strive to find on the high seas of life. It is the coordinate we set our tack to. With Moon’s north node in Cancer we need to process our experiences and feel into our emotional bodies. It’s much easier said than done, but spending time within ourselves and learning to understand how we react to things that happen to us, be it loss, fear, anxiety, or even joy, ecstasy, peace, helps us get to know our inner child. There is always an inner child to nurture, secure, protect, and teach. When we saddle up and gather our reins, or hoist the mainsail and cast off our mooring toward the beacon in the distance, take good care of yourself. Don’t be so hard on yourself or so rigid in your game plan. Saturn in Capricorn is a double signature for rigidity and strictness. Cancer softens. So, without being lazy or possessive or gluttonous, as Cancer is wont to be, be soft on yourself and others on this journey.

Your achievements await you, but you must honor those around you who are accompanying you on this journey through life. Love the ones who love you. We cannot take this ride alone. Build a new future from the pieces that remain and build it with those you love. The lenses are being polished and the lighthouse is beckoning. It is time to set your course. Blessings, mate!

Mercury Cazimi in Virgo

Mercury Cazimi in Virgo

Let’s get busy!

Cazimi is a medieval astrological term referring to when a planet is so close to a conjunction with the Sun that it is “in the heart” of it, which is the literal translation of cazimi. Mercury will be conjunct the Sun at 28° Virgo tonight at 9:30pm (EDT). This cazimi only happens in Virgo every year or two. Let’s explore that….

Mercury will be supercharged by the Sun in one of its own ruling signs (Virgo) today and tomorrow, prompting us to finalize and complete our projects, check everything off our lists, perfect that spreadsheet, put a more perfect coat of finish on that furniture, run those extra two miles, eat the healthiest salad, and be the best we can be before we need to go face other people. We want to be in control of our lives. We want to be able to manage and handle everything that comes our way…perfectly. And we at last want to be recognized for it all!

Virgo is the last sign of personal ego development before we recognize the need for others in our lives (Libra). This is why it is the sign of perfecting, fixing, maintaining, as well as our health. It is how we manage our lives, it is how we work, how we function. The last stop on our own train of selfhood before everyone else gets on board. We want to look and function our best for that significant other in our lives, right? Well, the health of that relationship, and our relationship to everyone, depends on how healthy our relationship to ourselves is. This is what we analyze in Virgo, what we care about. We want to be beautiful, productive, healthy, and in control.

Mercury also rules Gemini, which is the sign of gathering information and knowledge, studying, and trying to figure everything out. Virgo, Mercury’s other domain, is the act of implementing that knowledge and making it work as best we can; what you do with your Gemini knowledge.

When Sun and Mercury come together, it is a merging of the energies of Leo and Virgo. These two signs are next to each other in the Zodiac and represent, respectively, the expression and refinement of our personal ego development. They create a sense of need and duty to perform, accomplish, and be recognized. They challenge our capacity to function as optimally as possible. When they are in Virgo, we are pushed to shore up all possible malfunctions, rid ourselves of any unhealthy patterns, bring our lives into a place of peak management, and show the world the results. Think of it as a car that needs work. Today we are focused on fixing every single thing wrong with that car so it will run smoothly for years and years to come. And then we break out the soap and warm water and hand-wash that car until it looks like it’s brand new. Then we vacuum the inside, polish the dashboard, and Windex the speedometer.

It should go without saying, but it is important to understand why we do all these things. We function better, things work more smoothly, tasks get accomplished, progress is made, we are rewarded for our efforts, we are recognized and can feel better about who we are and what we do. We now identify with how important it is to function properly, to work hard, and to stay healthy.
