There is no denying how surreal our collective reality has become. Surrealism, limitations, fear, and… opportunity. As many of you may have read from an array of gracious authors just how much of an opportunity this is to re-nurture our lives from the ground up, it indeed is exactly that. Taking this time to fuse long-lost strands of deeply meaningful bonds between ourselves and those we love, miss, and cherish is the most ideal and compassionate action we can all take right now. As an astrologer whose oath it is to help people better understand their soul intentions in this lifetime, it’s a difficult reality to feel as though my knowledge and experience and insight can still be meaningful or useful. But underneath the wet blanket of our newfound surrealism, there lies our deep quiet lives that still exist. Our pain, suffering, fear, and uncertainty, as well as our laughter, gratitude, love, and compassion.

Everything happening in the world around us is sinking into our emotional body, either slowly or quickly. The honest acceptance and complete recognition of what is really happening is not accessible, because no one actually recognizes completely what is really happening. Therefore, we are face-to-face with the unknown. A mysterious fortune that is unfolding before all of us. I’m talking about anxiety and depression. I’m talking about the core roots of these two very destructive, yet subtle, forces that are looming large around many of us these days.

There is no sugar-coating the writing in the stars right now. Astrologers have been talking about the January conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn for decades. And with Jupiter and Mars now on the January point of that conjunction, and Moon’s nodes right where they were on September 11, 2001, these are not days to brush under the rug.

As Sun enters Aries tonight at 11:49pm EDT, we begin a new cycle of the zodiac. No longer able to rely on the timeless Piscean bliss afforded us in the womb, we are thrown into the experience of Selfhood, where we have to stand up for ourselves, fend for ourselves, and try to understand the world in which we’ve been born. A daunting task, but one that we’ve all accomplished as gracefully as possible. We need to do this again.

Now more than ever we need to take the right course of action in all that we do. Mars has come into the halls of Saturn-ruled Capricorn to greet and activate Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn. The turbulence is persistent, the rapids are raging, and the ground is trembling, but the decisions and actions we make and take over the next two weeks are very important in the long run. It is no small feat what we are all enduring right now. How we react to this surreality around our children will make a lifelong impression upon them. And how we choose to proceed into our lives as we emerge from this madness is of equal importance. Go lightly and with grace. Mars often takes no prisoners, but if you keep your wits about you there are gifts lying in wait ahead. Recognize the opportunities in every moment. The blue skies will continue to return to us, time and time again.

Today’s transits, unfortunately, are ripe for more unexpected news as Moon in Scorpio opposes volatile rebellious Uranus around noontime. I’m sure we can expect grim reports on the economy. Later on, she will oppose Venus in the early evening hours, hopefully lending a hand to some quality time with loved ones around a warm meal in a warm home, reflecting upon what matters most to us after all: love, affection, and security.

There’s no denying it, things are very frightening and daunting right now. We are being tested as a collective on how to take responsibility for our actions and whatever power structures we have constructed out of spite or ulterior motive. The boundaries that have been crossed are being thrown back in the faces of those who are to be held accountable, and even those who aren’t. It seems like a reckoning because it is. Mars is in Capricorn approaching Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn. This is a very difficult month, to say the least. And you certainly don’t need an astrologer to tell you that! But as Mars makes his way through the sign of responsibility, karma, and governmental structures, hitting three very powerful planets on his way, it’s a force to be reckoned with. So hold onto your hats and hold onto your loved ones. We can ride this out and we will. These are passing cycles that we are equipped to withstand.

Dates to note:
March 18: Moon conjunct Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn throughout the day
March 19: Mars conjunct Jupiter at 22° Capricorn
March 22: Mars conjunct Pluto at 24° Capricorn
March 31: Mars conjunct Saturn at 0° Aquarius

I’ll try to be more informative as the days go by. For now, just love the one you’re with…and play that song! Lots of songs!

Venus came home to Taurus last night. This is decadent indulgence. We are recognizing the value of all that surrounds us. From the wind through the pines to the socks around our toes. As we spend the next month with this benevolent placement of the goddess of beauty in her home sign of Taurus, we can expect financial matters to dominate our consciousness. As I said, we are recognizing the value of everything in our lives. We are checking in on our sustainability and our volatility. Can what we are doing last? Are my dreams practical and attainable? Maybe there’s a more lucrative direction. Take heed of this transit and put energy into what is valuable to you, but be mindful of investing, because as she approaches Uranus in the next couple of days we will see more and more market instability. Give it a week or so. Just remember to make what is valuable to you sustainable. And don’t forget to respect the people and experiences that are valuable to you, not just the stuff!

It’s a fiery Full Moon in Leo tonight. Moon in Leo, Venus in Aries, Mars in Sagittarius. Stay cool, my friends! Keep your affairs calm and peaceful.

Venus freshly into Aries is a ripe opportunity to take hold of our relationships, our finances, our pursuits of self-sustainability, and make something new and exciting happen. And with the ruler of Aries (Mars) in Sagittarius, there is opportunity, expansion, and higher purpose out there waiting for us to discover it. Life is not all a box of chocolates, however, so at this time we are being asked to take action, not wait for it to fall into our laps. Grab life by the horns! The Ram’s horns, that is.

The Leo Full Moon is highly energized by all the surrounding fire of the inner planets, emphasizing action and movement. Step out on a limb, go find what you’re afraid of doing because you need it. This is not an idle time. All the attempts we’ve made to freeze and not proceed are melting away and revealing a stagnant set of muscles in desperate need of movement. Let the Sun melt the icy limbs of your body and bring forward positive movement back into your life. Keep the eye between your eyes on all the zesty inspiration and potential you know you have deep within and go out and get it, make it happen, bring it into light. This Full Moon is for reflecting and expressing our greatest selves onto the world around us. Maybe it’s just among our friends and community, maybe it’s upon the greater world at large, but whatever it is, it is time to manifest our bold visions and charge at them like bison across the plains.

Venus is conjunct Neptune in Pisces today and tomorrow, with Mars squaring them from Sagittarius. Addtionally, Moon approaches Venus/Neptune Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Relationships. Perhaps plagued by selfish desires or righteous indignation from nethers we can’t control, Mars squaring this otherwise nebulous and beautiful Venus/Neptune conjunction in Pisces brings us a window of time we might be better off laying down our guns in order to drink in an extra-passionate display of indulgences. Of course Mars in Sagittarius can take our fiery passions, desires, and anger to extremes, but the deep love-infused feminine bath of Moon/Venus/Neptune in Pisces douses those flames with hymns of the Sirens and leaves us with no capacity to disregard their tune. This is a Piscean window. What do you see outside your Piscean window? The cliffs of a beautiful Mediterranean village under a blue sky and beside a calm sea? Gorgeous fields of poppies? A babbling spring brook filled with ducklings and swans? Whatever it may be, this is the story of these days. Be mindful of your temper, however. Don’t let often-overly-righteous Mars slash and burn the villages, fields, and banks of your otherwise delightful scenery!

Tomorrow is a New Moon in Aquarius (4:41pm EST). Fresh off a few days reflecting upon the losses and suffering we endured over the past year or two (see yesterday’s post), we emerge into the higher octave of Saturnian wisdom. Aquarius reaches beyond the traditional confines of Capricorn and spreads its newfound wisdom like wings across vast expanses of the collective landscape. This brings the outstanding achievements and recognition we’ve worked so hard for back down the mountain and into the community that we belong to in the valley. It is a time to share, co-create, and work together to achieve the unimaginable.

A beautiful opportunity to raise our own standards of altruism and lower selfish concerns, this New Moon helps awaken us to the value inherent in our own local community and circle of friends. What we can accomplish for the greater good together is much greater than what only one or two people can accomplish alone. Aquarius seeks a frequency that resonates the faculty of the mind responsible for enlightenment and awakening. It is where we find the gateway to the bliss of Pisces, but it requires a Saturnian code of responsibility. We must adhere to the ethics of sincere service to community and friendship and not waiver from that sincerity.

This is the cusp of giving thanks to and absolving the confining ruts we carved for ourselves and reaching into a more advanced, sincere, progressive, and collective future. As I mentioned yesterday, once we understand WHY Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn may have knocked down so much in our lives, we can begin to build on a beautiful new foundation that elevates our future to places that were once unimaginable.

Make time for ceremony tomorrow, especially during sundown on the east coast. Reflect upon your past, revel in your present, and rejoice in your future. This is a new beginning for all of us that we don’t want to overlook.

Moon in Capricorn until 8:20am Friday brings reflection upon all the strife, pain, and loss we’ve suffered in the past year, giving us ample opportunity to see more clearly the hard lessons we are emotionally evolving to understand. Because once we understand WHY Saturn/Pluto in Capricorn may have knocked down so much in our lives, we can begin to build on that beautiful new foundation and elevate our future to places that were once only imaginable.

We have been living the Capricorn dream, which is more of a concrete reality than a dream. The bugs and critters that have been infesting our nooks and crannies have come out to play and we are doing all we can to eliminate them from our domain. So many problems and responsibilities, issues from our past, boundaries crossed and penance due, karmic cleansing. What Capricorn has taught us is right from wrong, truth from lies, work from play, integrity from treachery. These are hard lessons, and hard earned lessons. The struggles we’ve gone through haven’t been easy, and they seem to continue testing us, as if they’re not going away.

We can expect the unexpected, however, as Sun moves into Aquarius today and the New Moon is in Aquarius on Friday. A breath of fresh air seems to drift out of the dark forest of Capricorn and into the open fields, allowing us to see the bright blue sky again. This is a glimpse of the rebirth we will emerge from this coming December. In the meantime, we are incubating and maturing. We are expanding the vessel of the Self in order to contain all that our rebirth will bring. Our task today, as Moon passes Mars in Sagittarius, is to look far into our journey, our soul, the expansive landscape that we both seek and traverse every day, and recognize the actions we need to take in order to discover all the colors of our rainbow, all the layers of achievement we are striving to manifest. Layers that encompass every shade of light, from the darkest moors of desolation to the brightest warmth of a loving embrace.

Aquarius is the harbinger of brilliance, discovery, and greater awareness. Blake’s Poetic Genius, if you will. There is a wise voice whispering across eternity through everything, and it is up to us to awaken our capacity to not only hear it, but to listen. Worlds are colliding, synchronicity is mounting, and channels are opening. Emerge from the forests of Capricorn into the fields of Aquarius. Discover your greatest future.

Is It the End or the Beginning?

Sun conjunct Mercury conjunct Ceres conjunct Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn today and tomorrow. The most tremendous achievements require the most tremendous work. Halfway only gets you halfway. Those of us who’ve walked with integrity by taking responsibility for our actions, decisions, and failures are reaping rewards that have come through great effort. It’s not easy owning up to the choices we’ve made when they brought us dead ends and losses. But that is necessary if we are to make it through this planetary gauntlet without repercussions. Stop blaming others, stop blaming institutions, stop blaming anything and anyone who isn’t responsible for the limitations and mistakes in your life. The reckoning is upon us. The King is entering the hall where the Lord of Karma, the Lord of the Underworld, the Lady of Gaia, and the Messenger have been discussing our circumstances. What is the King learning from them? How will we know all that is being communicated? What do YOU think they’re talking about? I’m guessing it’s obvious now that we all have to go through hell before we get to heaven, at least proverbially speaking. Where are you now?

Full Moon in Cancer, Friday, January 10, 2020

Posted on

The Full Moon penumbral lunar eclipse at 20° Cancer is Friday, January 10th at 2:22pm EST.

Moon is reflection. It exemplifies the process (phases) of reflecting upon ourselves, showing then hiding from us the entirety of who we are. Our undigested emotional trauma, our fears, our insecurities, our personal hangups, our inner child that needs affection, tenderness, and security. It is a time when we can fully see and recognize how these stresses in our lives are triggers that keep us in deeply carved ruts of personal plaque. When the light of our Sun fully reflects upon our Moon, all these facets of ourselves are exposed for us to reflect upon in hopes of understanding ourselves better and recognizing how to better nourish ourselves. Thus it is when we should bring to the altar whatever may be holding us back and preventing us from unfolding our wings so that we can let those things go and progress toward a more absolute awakening, not just a fleeting one. This Full Moon eclipse occurs in its home sign at 20° Cancer, magnifying its value and importance.

There is a caveat, however. As typical as this may seem, and it is typical this time of year, what is not typical is what Moon is opposing. There is a momentous communion of planets in Capricorn right now, magnified Sunday with an exact Saturn/Pluto conjunction (more on that in a future post). Saturn, Pluto, Mercury, Sun, Ceres, Jupiter, and Moon’s south node are all there, convening to play a daunting role in our Full Moon process. Remember, Moon is reflecting light from the Sun, who is assembled with all of these planets in Capricorn. Thus we are approaching a critical moment of reflection upon all the limitations, deaths, lies, failures, boundaries crossed, and inner workings of our darkest experiences and corners we’ve been hiding from and have been hidden from us. We are stripping the layers off into the deepest roots of our foundation in life and recognizing it for the first time. All the decisions, the reasons (or lack thereof) for our choices, and how they led us to where we are. Because of the austere and unyielding influence of the Capricorn congregation, this will make for a rather painful attempt to honor and process our Cancerian traumas and insecurities.

It would be best to plan a quiet weekend in order to respect our boundaries and nurture our personal space, making plenty of time for reflection, affection, dissemination, and integration. Let what light there is shine in from the fringes and illuminate your weary soul. What exactly needs to be released, or gained, in our lives in order to achieve the transformation necessary to unfold our glorious wings of triumph? This is a balancing act of honoring our greatest strengths while forgiving our greatest weaknesses. Don’t let the geopolitical drama engulf you in depression and anxiety. Love and healing and evolution begin in our hearts and in the hearts of our loved ones at home and in our community.
