Mars Retrograde (June 26 – August 27, 2018)

Mars stationed retrograde on Wednesday, June 26th, at 9° Aquarius. Here’s what that means…

We follow patterns in life: habits, routines, responsibilities…unconscious behavior patterns. As Mars slows down and stations retrograde, these patterns emerge from our unconscious into our awareness, allowing us to glimpse a portion of our being that had been on autopilot for nearly two years. Instead of perpetually repeating our patterns and not heeding other winds of change blowing our way, the winds now cease so these can all crystallize in front of our very eyes. We can assess the patterns and understand much more clearly WHY we should take a new course of action. All the advice that was whispered to us over the past couple of years, all the subtle feelings of wanting to change but not feeling ready to, not wanting to, not believing it was necessary; they’re all staring us in the face with wide bright eyes waiting for us to open up our maps and plan a new course. And they are reassuring us that this new course is going to be better than the last!

If a new course is truly welcomed by us in our hearts, greater freedom will emerge and help liberate us from the shackles that chained us to our unconscious behaviors for so long. Aquarius liberates us if we heed its lightning flashes of inspiration with open hearts and minds. Mars stationing here brings a fiery fervor to this inspiration and stirs conceivably monumental achievement if we harness the flavors of this recipe. All the action you’ve been wanting to take but have put off? “Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world.” New visions, new goals, new cycles and patterns, these all resonate with you becoming YOU! As Mars retrogrades back into Capricorn (August 12) to station direct and reemerge into Aquarius (September 10), we will be revisiting perhaps hard-to-handle truths and consequences that put us where we are. Capricorn shakes up the bullshit to expose boundaries and lies, wrong-doings, karmic patterns that need to shed like a snake sheds its skin in due time.

MAKE time to meditate upon your patterns, your bullshit behaviors, your shortcomings, etc. before (and during) Mars’ transit back into Capricorn on August 12th. If you get yourself in order and have a good sense of your map and new course before Mars reenters Capricorn, Capricorn will reward you with authority and recognition and a reputation that you deserve. That authority will come if you open your eyes to your old patterns, patterns you can consider old friends that you don’t have much in common with anymore. Make peace with those patterns, and instead of calling them bad or evil or horrible patterns, call them friends that brought you to where you are today. They taught you lessons, helped you understand your world, and helped you land upon the solid ground you’re standing upon now.

And beware! Mars in Aquarius can really shock your electronics, your speed, your elitism, your high standards, your higher-than-thouness! Advancement and progress through higher-consciousness with community, friends, and all collective endeavors is upon us. Gather with these people, open up your maps, plan your journeys, lash the mainsail, set a course, and embark upon those high seas of your destiny toward horizons of freedom and inspiration moving brightly through the rain and stars and wind!

Relationships can suffer due to Mars’ placement in Aquarius. It can bring a detachment to our passions, thus severing our grounded desires we tend to familiarize ourselves with. If you are aware of this subtlety it can serve your relationship well. Do things together with friends and community that can help you both grow and awaken and become more inspired in life. Brainstorm ideas, even if they’re far-fetched. Build dreams and visions. Go vision quest together or separately for the sake of your relationship. Understand the process of inspiration and freedom!

Two Sunsets over Candlewood Lake

Regarding photography, a friend once casually remarked, “Sunsets get boring after a while. They all end up looking the same.” Well, sometimes you capture one or two that are especially pretty.

Country Roads to Saratoga Springs

Country roads from Portland, Maine to Saratoga Springs, New York – June 8-12. Route 4 west may have been a favorite, along with the town of Woodstock, Vermont. Quechee State Park Campground, outside White River Junction, Vermont, was a great quiet overnight resting spot. Started the next day with a beautiful gorge hike in Quechee Gorge, then a picnic lunch and fresh strawberries fueled the rest of the journey into a late afternoon arrival in Saratoga Springs. The town is an excellent destination with a bustling downtown and breathtaking parks, of which offer expansive trails, sprawling greens to walk, bike, or throw a blanket in the grass, and numerous sulfuric mineral springs bubbling or spouting everywhere. Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) is debatably one of the greatest outdoor music venues ever. It could have something to do with how cool the town is and how seemingly laid-back people are, but its location in Saratoga Spa State Park is the best part. Favorite part of the journey is always meeting Roving Souls throughout the land. Blessings to you and everyone along the way. Enjoy the photos!

Scorpio

The deepest depths of Gaia’s oceans crawling with undiscovered life. Waters cold and dark, easily mistaken for another world, are the essence of Pluto’s domain, Hades’ haven. Lurking just above these nethers lie creatures with phosphorescent beams of light probing up through miles of muted silence into the corners of our past, guiding us where we need to go, giving light where there was only darkness. Sweeping around our memory and confusion demanding we envelope ourselves in it, the revelations rain down upon our psyches and bathe us in the Sacred Mysteries. Awakening to brighter seas and faster tides, we greet the swarming masses of myriad life all around us with vibrant awe and wonder. How dark must we go, how deep must we see, how lost must we feel before the doors of the denizens of the Underworld open to our new birth? What ghastly grim reaping must we endure before we can know serenity? The Shadows of our consciousness stretch far back beyond our mother’s face. The realms unseen are not for the faint of heart. Not enough is not an option. Too much is Scorpio’s tune. When pain seeps in, expect more. When fear haunts you, expect more. The gloves come off and the bells ring. Your escapades through the dark nights of your soul find you at last on the shores of the freedom and opportunities of Sagittarius. The revelations gleaming from your experiences of having gone astray wash over you like warm ecstasy and exotic nectar. Quiet your mind and swim in the clear vast lagoons of tranquility. There will be battles still, but your valor has bestowed an honor upon you that you’ve never known.
