Very unique upscale Spanish restaurant in Washington DC. We stopped for a quick appetizer and drink and the bartender highly recommended this delicious and intense dish.

After catching a baby raccoon falling from 50 feet up in a tree, a shower, a margarita, and some lunch sounded pretty good…. We decided to go to Maya Restaurant on the Upper East Side. A Richard Sandoval restaurant.

Rewind to Good Friday, Milano, Italy

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Gastronomy

After an early Good Friday wakeup and complimentary continental breakfast we toured a few blocks on foot. After walking through gorgeous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II…

…we stumbled upon the most insanely magnificent building I had ever scene. Gasping with shock and amazement, my world stopped and all I wanted to do was run to the building to throw myself at its feet while sobbing like a baby because I’m a thankful believer…but I didn’t. If you haven’t guessed it yet, it was the Duomo of Milan. Geoff does a beautiful job of trying to capture the beauty of all we see but there’s nothing like the experience of seeing that Duomo in real life.

On Easter Sunday this year, we shared perhaps the most amazing meal we’ve all ever had at Bovio Ristorante in La Morra, Italy. From the astounding views to the incredible wine (list) to the second-to-none food this place had everything anyone would want in an exquisite dining experience. A small glimpse of our five course, four hour lunch follows.

L’Osteria dell’Arco, Alba, Italy, 2014

Highlights from our meal at L’Osteria dell’Arco in Alba, Italy on April 19th. Their sister restaurant in Bra, Italy, Osteria del Boccondivino, shares space with the headquarters of the Slow Food Movement. Unfortunately, we didn’t take notes everywhere we ate, so I can’t quite tell you what each of these dishes are. We have learned from this mistake and will try to relate that information better in the future. Until then…

When in the Upper West Side (NYC) and all you’re craving is a Reuben mouth party, reasonably local, relatively affordable, practically portioned, where do you find it?

Corner Room, Grand Budapest, Walter’s ~ April 14, 2014

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Gastronomy, Libations

We enjoyed a delicious hot pepper infused bloody mary at the Corner Room before a 5pm viewing of The Grand Budapest Hotel, which we LOVED, followed by a lovely dinner at Walter’s. Oh how we love happy hour at the Corner Room, and the melt-in-your-mouth beef short ribs served at Walter’s. It is, however, very difficult for each of us to order the same meal due to our passion for food, flavors, and the simple joy in two pieces of art. Rarely craving red meat we opted for the filet mignon with barely a hint of stilton in the perhaps too mildly flavored onion jam as our second entree. It’s always delicious food at Walter’s once you get past the elevator music and the newly constructed architectural eyesore hotel across the street (just look away!). The next time you’re walking the streets of Portland craving short ribs for dinner, I highly recommend giving Walter’s a chance.

Double Date Night at DiMillo’s ~ April 13, 2014

Totally hooked on the Hendricks Cucumber Basil Martini… Oh my!!! It’s perfectly smooth, cool, refreshing, and, believe it or not, does not taste like a gin martini. DiMillo’s might be one of my favorite locally toured spots! More to come regarding their food….
