The Fog is Lifting

Posted on

Saturn. Great commanding deity of TIME, KARMA, WORK, AUTHORITY, STRUCTURE. Without Saturn we would get nothing accomplished, never feel guilty about anything, never reap what we sow, never mature, and nothing would stay together. With Saturn reigning over all of these things, thus the weight it can put upon our own shoulders, it is no surprise that its changes will affect our own.

As Saturn stations direct this week (yesterday, technically), the proverbial chains that have been holding us down, back, and in, are unlocked and beginning to come loose. The fog is lifting. We are beginning to feel that there truly is potential in the plans and visions we were coaxing into existence earlier this year but were stifled in our capacity to manifest. A very heavy weight is coming off our chests. The pieces that fell apart between April 29th and now can be picked up and put back together again, but this time we can build an even better future, as difficult as it may sound.

We of course have to remember that Saturn is still in its ruling sign of Capricorn, along with Pluto and Moon’s South Node, so our coming achievements will reflect the essence of this archetype. The essence of Capricorn is journeying from student to master, beginner to advanced, childish to mature, the sea to the mountaintop. It is utilizing the lessons learned through hard work, diligence, integrity, strife, karma, guilt, and the crossing of boundaries, to make something of our soul’s journey. We all fell somewhere these past five months, perhaps we fell and fell and fell. Maybe we did things we shouldn’t have done. Maybe we got lazy or stupid while soaking up so much fun in the summer Sun. But hopefully we all made it through and are here to read or write about it.

Take heed of the whispers Saturn gleaned upon you from time-to-time over the summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere). Ideas of how to improve your career, your practice, your study, your mentoring, your parenting, your time management. These are all areas we are going to begin feeling better about. The work is not finished by any means, but there is beginning to be light at the end of the dark confusing tunnel of setbacks and struggles we have been through. With right action and conscious process we can attain now what we could only imagine attaining before. We can now climb that mountain.

Much as we have to remember that Saturn (and Pluto and SN) are still in Capricorn, we also have to remember that all the inner planets, including Sun, are either in or approaching Libra. They will one-by-one come to square Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn between Sep 22 and Nov 5. This is not to be taken lightly, because the inner planets reflect our day-to-day experiences and relationships, especially the latter when they’re all in Libra. We will be forced to examine and build upon the pieces of our relationships that may have been shattered or struggled to evolve lately. Saturn and Pluto can bring tremendous limitations and loss into our lives. Loss of people, jobs, security, friends, health. But they knock us down that we might rise again mightier than before. The phoenix rising from the ashes, building a new future, a new relationship, a new career. Particularly as these inner planets transit Libra and square Saturn and Pluto, we will feel a strong pull to honor the significant people in our lives and how we emotionally manage those relationships. Remember that honoring those people can also mean letting them go. This is about aligning our integrity in the realm of relationships through whatever is necessary. How can we build upon the relationships we are already in in a more harmonious and balanced manner? What can we let go of willingly that will bring peace to the love we share with them? It will be an October of recognizing our passive-aggressive behaviors and perhaps being put in our place because of them. Be mindful of your actions, but especially be mindful of your REactions. Saturn is prone to taking things too far just to find out where the boundaries are. If you remain vigilant of your actions, you can find that boundary without crossing it. In other words, think before you speak.

Find your gift. Nurture that gift. While Moon’s south node is in Capricorn, its north node is in Cancer. North node is the beacon we strive to find on the high seas of life. It is the coordinate we set our tack to. With Moon’s north node in Cancer we need to process our experiences and feel into our emotional bodies. It’s much easier said than done, but spending time within ourselves and learning to understand how we react to things that happen to us, be it loss, fear, anxiety, or even joy, ecstasy, peace, helps us get to know our inner child. There is always an inner child to nurture, secure, protect, and teach. When we saddle up and gather our reins, or hoist the mainsail and cast off our mooring toward the beacon in the distance, take good care of yourself. Don’t be so hard on yourself or so rigid in your game plan. Saturn in Capricorn is a double signature for rigidity and strictness. Cancer softens. So, without being lazy or possessive or gluttonous, as Cancer is wont to be, be soft on yourself and others on this journey.

Your achievements await you, but you must honor those around you who are accompanying you on this journey through life. Love the ones who love you. We cannot take this ride alone. Build a new future from the pieces that remain and build it with those you love. The lenses are being polished and the lighthouse is beckoning. It is time to set your course. Blessings, mate!

Two Sunsets over Candlewood Lake

Regarding photography, a friend once casually remarked, “Sunsets get boring after a while. They all end up looking the same.” Well, sometimes you capture one or two that are especially pretty.

Country Roads to Saratoga Springs

Country roads from Portland, Maine to Saratoga Springs, New York – June 8-12. Route 4 west may have been a favorite, along with the town of Woodstock, Vermont. Quechee State Park Campground, outside White River Junction, Vermont, was a great quiet overnight resting spot. Started the next day with a beautiful gorge hike in Quechee Gorge, then a picnic lunch and fresh strawberries fueled the rest of the journey into a late afternoon arrival in Saratoga Springs. The town is an excellent destination with a bustling downtown and breathtaking parks, of which offer expansive trails, sprawling greens to walk, bike, or throw a blanket in the grass, and numerous sulfuric mineral springs bubbling or spouting everywhere. Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) is debatably one of the greatest outdoor music venues ever. It could have something to do with how cool the town is and how seemingly laid-back people are, but its location in Saratoga Spa State Park is the best part. Favorite part of the journey is always meeting Roving Souls throughout the land. Blessings to you and everyone along the way. Enjoy the photos!

Venus in Pisces (Feb 10 – Mar 6)

Posted on

Danae, by Gustav Klimt, 1907, oil on canvas

The spiritual lover and sensual collector of all fine things. Things to touch, smell, feel, hear, and taste. The senses will be spiritualized! It is time to awaken your senses to the spiritual meaning behind all of them. There is intrinsic value in many material things, but it is important not to confuse their value with just personal gratification. Yes, it can be enlightening to experience the sensuality of physical touch, beautiful music, succulent cuisine, or enchanting perfumes, but there is an underlying value there beyond the realm of our senses five. Perhaps you could call it our sixth sense or channeling through our crown chakra, but these experiences of existence go deep into the subtle bodies. That feeling of getting chills across your whole body when a musician takes you on a magical journey? That is the embodiment of Venus in Pisces. It is so important to recognize the value of beauty beyond the flesh, beyond just the senses. As we awaken to these realizations, we begin to understand how sacred the world around us truly is. The Great Spirit that flows through everything is the epitome of these forces.

Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the higher octave, if you will, of Venus. These energies are synergetic, so when they combine with one another there is tremendous lift beneath their wings. And wings is a great metaphor for how they can make you feel. Be careful not to climb too high into the stratosphere, because there is work to be done here on Earth. The Venus of Earth is Taurus, which is our senses, our talents, our inspirations. The Venus of Air is Libra, which is our relationships, our desire for fairness and harmony and understanding among one another. And Pisces is the Water in this alchemical brew. It is actually more like the Ether of the brew, the steam and essences that rise from the cauldron of our brew.

What is the true substance of all of this? It reveals itself in subtle nuances throughout our days and nights. It is our relationships wanting to run away forever and never come back. It is our evenings wanting to turn up the music, open a fine bottle of wine, and maybe smoke some grass. It is a warm afternoon walk through a forest dappled with sunbeams. It is a luxurious swim in warm turquoise waters off the coast of a remote island. But the essence of these experiences is what they do to our soul’s evolution. Can you witness and understand the value of these things without getting lost in the self-serving gratification of them? Yes, they sound dreamy, and they are, but understand that all of that beauty and joy and pleasure is fleeting and merely a means to respecting and appreciating on a spiritual level how infinitely magical the Universe truly is.

Stay in check during this time, though. This can take relationships into unknown territories and lure you both into places you didn’t know you’d go. It can be like the gorgeous Sirens who lure you into your demise with their temptations and otherworldly beauty. Take care to do the work that still needs done. Stay responsible, stay aligned with your path, stay in touch with each other through communication, both speaking and touching. Have important moments together with close friends, loved ones, your parents. This is a deep transit of Love. It is an opportunity to experience Love as the true essence of existence, not just a word or a feeling or a thought. But it can also take your relationship on an out-of-control spiral into the unknown. Don’t let your relationship be lost through escapism!

On Wednesday, February 21st, Venus is conjunct Neptune in Pisces, magnifying all of these things to extremes. If you can, take time to meditate on the importance of the physical and spiritual in your life, as well as how they balance one another and are ultimately intertwined in this third dimension.
